What used to be the bedroom is now an inviting kitchen in this quaint historic bungalow in Ballard. By placing new openings that face the backyard and removing interior separations, natural light is able to make its way into once dark spaces, instantly creating the illusion of a larger, more functional living area.

When the office moved from it’s location in Wallingford (RIP) to Ravenna we envisioned a new space where our clients and team members alike could float in and out of the natural environment, blurring the lines of indoor vs. outdoor. We collaborated with the team at Pacifica Landscapes on designing an outdoor space that would do just this, and we’re so thrilled to see how the space is filling out even in just two short years.

Happy International Arbor Day! We can’t help be in awe of our tree friends, both big and small. This big leaf maple is a registered heritage tree, measures a whopping 62 inches in diameter, and is located in our clients backyard! A lot of time and consideration went into the initial planning of this second story addition so as to minimize any disturbance to the canopy and root zone - ensuring that this tree can continue to grow and thrive for years to come.

Often cheaper than blinds, Vinyl clings are an easy and inexpensive solution that diffuse direct light and brighten a space. Swipe for the before. What is now a bright and airy circulation zone was once a steep, cramped, and dark stairwell leading to the upper level and basement. Extending this home’s footprint to maximize the width of the lot allowed us to relocate the stair while also creating more functional and efficient floor plans for all levels of the home.

This week we bid a fond farewell to a cherished me

This week we bid a fond farewell to a cherished member of the Strata Team, Shelby, who is setting sail for new horizons. She has been a tried and true MVP since day one, and will be remembered by her exceptional design skills, impeccable eye for detail, and ghostly figure in project photos. We wish her every success and happiness in her future endeavors - Cheers to 10 years!
