Walla Walla Built Green Addition
The desire of the owner was to create an addition that respects the historic character of the 1917 house that seamlessly blends with the original structure. The scope included adding a sunroom and enlarging the small bedroom on the second floor. This residence is designed to create more living space while using all green materials and systems. A radiant floor system from onsite geothermal is used for heat. Gray water is collected for irrigation and to flush the toilets. Recycled materials are used whenever possible, and much of the material from the small, enclosed porch is incorporated back into the design to eliminate waste. Nanawall is used to open the sunroom to the new outdoor patio. Another aspect of the design was incorporating full accessible design elements to allow the homeowners to age in place.
